OUR MISSION – SPREAD AWARENESS – PROVIDE EDUCATION – PREVENT OVERDOSE

The mission of this event is to spread awareness and provide education on the disease of addiction and prevent overdose deaths, as a result of the heroin epidemic. Proceeds will benefit the Stefan Robert Bates Memorial Fund and will be used to assist with travel expenses to treatment and to provide sober living scholarships for those individuals reaching out for help, while guiding and directing them on their recovery journey.

Opioids, both prescription and illicit, are the main cause of overdose deaths. According to the Center for Disease Control opioid overdoses were responsible for 42,249 deaths in 2016. Ohio is ranked 2nd with the highest rate of deaths due to overdose with 39.1 deaths per 100,000. Additionally, significant increases were seen in both Indiana and Michigan.

Over 23 million Americans are suffering from substance use disorder.

This event will educate and bring awareness to the heroin epidemic, offer guidance and resources for those seeking recovery and hopefully take the stigma out of addiction so that more lives are not needlessly lost.

Admission is free. Food will be available during the event and also include raffles, merchandise and bake sale with a memoriam lantern release at conclusion. Camping available on-site at the fairgrounds. All proceeds will benefit the Stefan Robert Bates Memorial Fund.
